gnucash 2.3.7 - locale & sqlite in Kubuntu

Managed to get 2.3.7 compiled in Kubuntu and noticed:

1. that a xml file from the Windows version has the default locale 
currency set to USD instead of CAD
2. "Save As" option does not seem to save to a sqlite file.
