Can't find the transaction pop-up

I think you are referring to a tab that shows up during the new account 
dialog.  You can replicate the action of that dialog on a 
pre-established account by manually entering a transaction.  Create a 
test account with an opening balance and study the transactions it 
makes.  Then duplicate the results in the other account.  Just delete 
the test account and it will delete all transactions associated with it.
