Might be worth reminding people that you will need to run Notepad or other
such editor as administrator so that you can save your edits.  Simply run
click on Notepad in the menu and choose the 'Run as Administrator' option.

Yes, that's probably the solution that makes most sense. Thanks for bringing
it up.

I didn't because I wasn't sure this would be appropriate to ask a casual
user to do.
