Absolutely.

Three years ago I got rid of QuickBooks and began running my small
business on a GnuCash/Ubuntu platform.  Recently, I transitioned to a
MacBookPro and bringing the GnuCash over to the new system was very
simple.

If you are used to QuickBooks or some other accounting package there
will probably take a little bit of time to become fully comfortable
with GnuCash.  Besides being a very nice package, there are a lot of
helpful folks on the user's group that are both knowledgeable and very
responsive.  The GnuCash user community is one of the very best in the
open source universe.
