Of course it's the case.  And we already do that!  We have Guile
(scheme) wrappers for most of the APIs, and there's a project to create
Python wrappers, too!  However we do NOT provide a .pc file; it's not
easy to write a C/C++ app that links against the gnucash engine libraries.
