Alternatively you could use the feature of vendor invoices which 
allows for VAT (different VAT rates are possible) as well.

You could book the "invoice" in advance. But I am wondering what you 
do with the transactions till the balance date.

I apply this method for years. Tracking open CC balances can easily be 
listed by searching for open "invoices".
