GnuCash QIF Memo problems

Hi

My version of GnuCash: 2.3.8

I've trouble with QIF import. I've written a program they export transfer
to QIF and I can import later to gnucash. The SWIG interface are to
circuitous.

That works nice but is unusable while the memo fails. In the gnucash german
version, the memo is fundamental. All reports going fails while the memo
are blank I use the german version could be that you use the word 
split as memo or TXN. The payee works nice for description.

I've found this report, I not sure but I think that is the problem:

I've a lot of transfers and I can't it manual set memo.

Can I change the .scm without recompiling the source?
Why is that not a bug? Can I change that by hand?
