As I explained in my response to Maf. King, I opened my main data file
ken09.gnc, which appeared momentarily and then crashed.

The text returned when I did so follows:

ken at SOL:~$ gnucash --nofile
gnc.bin-Message: main: binreloc relocation support was disabled at
configure time.
Found Finance::Quote version 1.13
Segmentation fault
ken at SOL:~$
