Debit a 'Checking Account' Only

That would make the totals all agree, I think. But you'd still be left 
with all those transactions, improperly debiting the "Imbalance" 
account. But if you don't care about that (when looking at the history 
of those account transactions), then this would be the easy way to get 
the accounts to balance.

BTW, the "Imbalance" account is automatically used whenever a 
transaction you are entering doesn't .. well ... balance. :-) Remember 
in double-entry accounting, the totals of all debits *MUST* match the 
totals of all credits, within a transaction. Yours did not. I have that 
happen sometimes, especially in split transactions (in which there are 
multiple debit and/or multiple credits within a single transaction entry).
