2.2.9 becoming unstable

To see if you have a corrupted data file, create a new file and then
try the options that have been locking up with your current data file.
 If they work w/ no issues then your working data file has an issue
with it.  If there is no change you may want to remove and reinstall
GC to see if that fixes the issue.
