How do I add extra principle to my Mortgage Payment

Folks,

I am new to the list... my accounting studies were completed in 1966...  and I 
have not done a lot of it since then.

How do I set up an extra principle payment in the scheduled payment for my 
mortgage? I have added a split line for it but the system complains about not 
being able to complete? it automatically.

I am running the GnuCash 2.2.4 with Ubuntu 8.04. I like the package very much, 
however, I would like to do this. Why is there not an entry in the druid to 
provide this function when the account is setup?
