Setting Column Width

Well, after experimenting, so it does - how odd!  What happened to the
situation where you could lose data off the RH side of the screen with no
way of viewing it and no intuitive way or retrieving it again?  (I'm sure
I haven't updated my installation here for well over a year ...)
