I believe that this information is transferred. To see the transaction-level memo field, select View->Double Line.

I have an additional question to rt101's about importing accounts from
Quicken 2005 -

Is it possible to get the "Memo" field from Quicken transactions copied
into the corresponding Gnucash transaction? I see that the Memo field in
Quicken splits gets copied into the Description field in Gnucash splits,
but in an unsplit transaction, the Memo in a Quicken transaction seems
to get lost in the import via QIF into Gnucash.

I use Memo in Quicken to record what was bought in larger transactions
(which lets me find purchase dates, etc. easily), and to record the
receipt numbers for electronic payments to utilities, credit cards, etc.
It would be annoying to lose all this.

Regards,
Peter
