gnucash in xp

I forgot to mention about the 
data format. When I went to saveas the default data format was xml. 
Others were available but I have never dealt with the data format in 
Linux. The others that were available are mysql, postgres. There may have been one other. Not sure.

I'm afraid this trace file doesn't give any details of the parse error you 
mentioned in your first mail.

You proposal is best: remove all the current trace files and start again.

I would be interested in two trace files:
1. the first one right after you have opened a backup file, ran save as and 
closed gnucash again
2. the second one after you try to open the new file and get the error 
message.

Can you also tell me in which directory (full path) you are storing your data 
file ?
