Register Display Issue

Hi,

I don't know whether this is a new problem, but I have noticed in recent Gnucash sessions that the Balance column in all my registers is being resized whenever an account is opened. This is annoying because I can't see the entire balance; also, the method for resizing this column is not eminently clear.

The first idea I had was to grab the right side of the column and stretch it out (as is standard with other columns). However, since it is at the far right of the window, it is somewhat like a video game trying to get the cursor in just the right place to click the column boundary without clicking on the scrollbar. Unfortunately, this doesn't work; instead of the balance column resizing, the Description decides it wants to. After scratching my head for a while, I tried double clicking the heading, and it resized. Hooray.

Problem solved--except that this happens every time I open an account in Gnucash, as, for example, when I start it up. I'd really prefer it not do this.

My questions are: Is this new behavior? Is it a bug? And is there a way to prevent it from happening?

I am running 2.4.8 (downloaded from Sourceforge) on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Thanks,
David
