log + xac

Hello,

What are all these log & xac files I have on my computer ? 
Just started using GnuCash yesterday and really like it but am annoyed by
all these extra files.
Is it safe to delete them without affecting the performance of the program.
(and if not all, at least some)?
A little guidance, please.
