The help guide was something in between. I released v2.4.0  of the 
documentation a couple of months ago, but forgot to update the proper version 
and date stamps. As such it seemed the help manual was still from 2007.

GnuCash Documentation version 2.4.1 has indeed been released a couple of days 
ago. The website should now display this newest version.
