Good day!
Let's imagine the setup:
One day I decided to go into new business and I chosen… pillow making. I
supposed to produce pillows stuffed with feathers and foam-rubber. Thus
I have two business projects to realize: Feathers Pillows (Project
codename "FP") and Foam-Rubber Pillows (Project codename "FRP").
Simplified Account Hierarchy looks like that:
- Assets € 600
-- Accounts Receivable
-- Bank account = € 500
-- Cash = € 100
- Liabilities € 0
-- Accounts Payable
-- Credit Card
- Income € 0
-- My business
--- Sales
--- Services (provided)
-- Other incomes
- Expenses € 0
-- My business
--- Material purchase
--- Services (received)
--- Employee's fee
-- Other expenses
And Subjects Hierarchy looks like that:
- Vendor
-- Poultry farm
-- Textile manufacture
-- Polymer plant
- Customer
-- Supermarket
-- Furniture shop
- Employee
-- Seamstress
-- Odd-jobber
The business plan is simple: I buy materials from vendors, my employees
make pillows than I sell them to customers.
Transactions are made trough invoices & bills (using Receivable/Payable
Accounts) as well as trough direct payments (using instantly payments,
cash payments etc.).
Expected transactions example:
- Assets = 1 175 €
-- Accounts Receivable
-- Bank account = 1 115 € (500 – 50 – 45 – 35 – 35 – 60 – 50 – 65 – 45 +
550 + 450)
-- Cash = 60 € (100 – 20 – 20)
- Liabilities € 0
-- Accounts Payable
-- Credit Card
- Income = 1 000 €
-- My business
--- Sales
--- ¤ Feathers Pillows | Furniture shop | via A/Receivable | 550 € | [FP]
--- ¤ Foam-Rubber Pillows | Supermarket | via A/Receivable | 450 € | [FRP]
--- Services (provided)
-- Other incomes
- Expenses = 425 €
-- My business
--- Material purchase = 165 €
--- ¤ Feathers | Poultry farm | Bank via A/Payable | 50 € | [FP]
--- ¤ Foam-Rubber | Polymer plant | Bank via A/Payable | 45 € | [FRP]
--- ¤ Coloured fabric | Textile manufacture | Bank via A/Payable | 35 €
| [FP]
--- ¤ Coloured fabric | Textile manufacture | Bank via A/Payable | 35 €
| [FRP]
--- Services (received) = 40 €
--- ¤ Transport charges | Delivery Company | Cash directly | 20 € | [FP]
--- ¤ Transport charges | Delivery Company | Cash directly | 20 € | [FRP]
--- Employee's fee = € 220
--- ¤ Sewing pillow bags | Seamstress | Bank instant payment | 60 € | [FP]
--- ¤ Sewing pillow bags | Seamstress | Bank instant payment | 50 € | [FRP]
--- ¤ Making pillows | Odd-jobber | Bank instant payment | 65 € | [FP]
--- ¤ Making pillows | Odd-jobber | Bank instant payment | 45 € | [FRP]
-- Other expenses
Gnucash can generate a numerous reports concerning vendors, customers,
employees, jobs and so on, but in given example a Project Report would
be more valuable.
Explanation: I'd like to know which of my projects is more profitable.
In this case Project Report should have at least following information:
1. Transaction list of Expenses concerning the Project;
2. Transaction list of Incomes concerning the Project;
3. Project Profit ("Sum of Incomes" [minus] "Sum of Expenses").
Example:
*****
Feathers Pillows Project [from DD/MM/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY]
- Income
-- My business
--- Sales
--- ¤ Feathers Pillows | Furniture shop | Bank Account | 550 €
TOTAL: 550 €
- Expenses
-- My business
--- Material purchase
--- ¤ Feathers | Poultry farm | Bank Account | 50 €
--- ¤ Colored fabric | Textile manufacture | Bank Account | 35 €
--- Services (received)
--- ¤ Transport charges | Delivery Company | Cash | 20 €
--- Employee's fee
--- ¤ Sewing pillow bags | Seamstress | Bank Account | 60 €
--- ¤ Making pillows | Odd-jobber | Bank Account | 65 €
TOTAL: 230 €
Project Profit = 220 €
*****
Profit of Foam-Rubber Pillows Project = 255 €
So I can see that Foam-Rubber Pillows Project is more profitable than
Feathers Pillows Project.
Are there any reports like above one in Gnucash or in what way could I
get it?
