Using same data file between Windows and Mac versions ?

Can we impement Gnucash if we plan to work on our accounting, at times while using a pc laptop (so that would be Gnucash for Windows) and sometimes a macbookpro laptop (so that would be running a Gnucash for Mac) ? As we exchanged the file, back and forth, would it be seamless, easy, and not loose data ? Will it work fine ? Or are we calling for a major nightmare ?  Help!
