Can we merge Gnucash files

Gnucash documents are compressed XML files.  There is a setting to store them uncompressed.

Make backups of both files in case of trouble.  Save both uncompressed then use diff or some other text comparison tool to find the differences. TextWrangler on os x will do that.  I expect notepad++ on windows will as well.

If the XML schema makes sense to you, a simple copy and paste might solve your problem.
