separating data files from backup files

The list of files at the bottom of the file menu are files that you previously opened. If their data can't be found it's because you moved or deleted them. AFAIK, there's no non-techie way to purge the list.

What will happen with the log and backup files is that every time you start Gnucash any log files or backup files over 100 days old will be deleted.
