I'm a brand new Gnucash user and I'm having trouble setting up the
connection to my banks through OFX to download transactions.
If this isn't an appropriate place for such a question, please point
me toward other resources.
I'm using GnuCash on Windows 7. I'm attempting to set up connections
to Charles Schwab Bank and to Vanguard. I tried to follow the
instructions on the wiki
(http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Setting_up_OFXDirectConnect_in_GnuCash_2)
using the recommended connection settings for Schwab and Vanguard
(http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/OFX_Direct_Connect_Bank_Settings). I was
unable to successfully connect through AqBanking and set up the
accounts automatically. I am able to get to the point of entering my
userid/password for connecting to my bank in the section on "Using
AqBanking to set up accounts". Then a window pops up and immediately
disappears. I never see the request to accept the SSL certificate that
the server is reporting.
Note that in this section of the wiki there are a couple lines that read:
"If the connection was successful, you should see something like:
http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/images/AqB-getaccountsuccess.png"
Trying to view the image gives me a file not found error.
I tried enabling the OFX log. The log file shows that my the login
information has been sent from my computer to the banks' servers, but
doesn't show any information received or any error messages.
Surely I have a setting somewhere incorrect, but I'm not sure how to
troubleshoot this. If there is someone on the list who has
successfully connected to Schwab and/or Vanguard and could walk me
through the settings they use, I would appreciate it.
Any suggestions?
Meredith
