how to keep certain tabs open

Gwyneth--

Unfortunately, I no longer use Windows, so my help will be limited at this point. However, I have seen some Windows users have troubles due to permissions problems. Usually, that also shows up as your preferences not being saved from one session to the next. Are you having trouble with other preferences as well, or is it just the open tabs?

If it's all preferences, try looking at the permissions for the folder that holds your preferences (I think it is in your user folder as a hidden ".gnome" or ".gnucash" folder, but I could be wrong). If they are not set to allow you to save files, you should change that.

If it's just the tabs themselves try looking in ".gnucash" for a file that is the same name as your data file (e.g., if your file is "MyAccounts.gnucash", look for the same file in the ".gnucash" folder). This file (usually just a couple of kilobytes in size) is a text file that defines the open tabs, so it would be the next logical thing to look at. Check the permissions on this file; perhaps you are not allowed to save the new tabs into the file.

If these don't get you moving toward a solution, I'll defer to people who actually use Windows.

David

I've updated to version 2.4.10 but it still behaves the same, and opens with the same 4 tabs open that it always has despite me changing them each time I open the program.

I'm running on windows 7 home premium - service pack 1

the tabs open when you close the program, and they open when
you open the program. This is on Arch Linux at least (and
I'm pretty sure that worked on Ubuntu too).
