Right, and that's what Ian K. was suggesting people did _not_ want.
What they apparently want is a way to trim old data prior to a certain
date, because that eliminates old data that then does not need to be
stored, loaded, and so on.
I suspect that a database back ends would be a better way to achieve
this, actually, but I get the desire.
