Reconciliation problem

Hi,

I've been using GnuCash for almost a year now, and I have never had a
problem reconciling accounts, until now.  When I try to reconcile
against my bank statement dated the 1st of December 2011, I expect to
see all transactions in the preceding month, but GnuCash shows
transactions dated *after* Dec 1, 2011 as well.

I am trying to reconcile my accounts in exactly the same way I have been
for the past several months.  Why am I having trouble now?
