Schwab brokerage transactions - do I need ofx.py?

You don't need ofx.py specifically, but you do need a way to get the ofx file from Schwab onto your computer so the you can use gnucash's File/Import/Import OFX/QFX... menu command. Aqbanking cannot handle investment transactions. Libofx can.

The fact that you can connect to Schwab's ofx server, but are unsuccessful logging in suggests that you'd have problems getting ofx.py to work too. If Schwab's web site allows you to download ofx files after logging in, that would be your best bet.
