Hi Malcolm.

Not answering this question directly, but in relation to the earlier question 
you raised, is there any info put in the trace file when GC crashes on 
startup? (finding the trace file is described in the FAQ somewhere)

I don't use MS Windows, and don't know any more about where to find or install 
any version of GC for that OS, but posting the contents of a trace file may 
allow insight from the gurus that stop by here every so often!
