at first, to get attention you shouldn't hijack other threads. ;-)

As you are still running Gnucash 2.4.11, this should not be 
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=697133 - 2.4.12 regression: 
livelock while importing OFX

I have to confess, I am no expert of OFXDirectconnect, but a trace file 
http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Tracefile, the OFX log 
http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Setting_up_OFXDirectConnect_in_GnuCash_2#Enabling_the_OFX_Log

and probably some settings from
http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/AqBanking#Debugging
to get detailed informations could help to diagnose the problem.
