I do have bayesian matching selected for the generic importer, but for
both of the bank accounts that are the bulk of my OFX imports, Gnucash
errs for as many as half of the imported transactions, even after a year
or more of experience. It still assigns incorrect accounts about 10
percent of the time, even for the same McDonald's that we go to more
than once a month. GnuCash matches to incorrect existing transactions 10
to 20 % of the time, and today it even declared for one transaction that
there was no existing transaction to match to when there was one there
for the same date, amount and payee(approximately). It also decides to
not import at all about 20 to 30 % of new transactions, so I have to
change each of those to something else, usually to "new" status.
Lastly, once I click OK I can get at least one game (and sometime two)
of Solitaire in before it finally completes the import and lets me go on
to the next task. This is when I import about twice a month so there
are usually only 10 to 20 transactions per import.

When so many users think that it is doing a poor job, I think that it's
operation should be reviewed for ways to make it less frustrating to use.
