Help importing Quicken files

Quicken's data files are likely be just about anywhere in your home directory
or its subdirectory. It depends on where they were stored. I don't know if
Quicken's default file location is. Some rude programs default to a
subdirectory within the program's own directory. c:\Program
Files\Quicken\Data, perhaps?

Having recently converted some Quicken files, I suggest that you go on E-bay
and look for a copy of Q2010. Transferring data from Quicken format to
gnucash is not for the faint of heart!

I may have missed something when I did my transfer, but there is some
ambiguity, since Quicken doesn't establish accounts. I found that some (not
all) transactions came across twice, for instance, once from the checking
account file and once from the category file corresponding to the transaction.
It took a lot of time and patience to sort it all out. Also, I frequently
needed to open the file in Quicken to determine how a transaction really worked
and also to verirfy the ending balances of accounts.

I would recommend moving to gnucash, although you may find reports a little
less friendly than Quicken. To do that, however, I would first get the
accounts all squared away in quicken, then transfer.
