Importing Reconciled accounts with transfers from Quicken

Chigsy--
When you perform the import, are you doing each account separately? The result you mention suggests that you are.
Is it possible for you to export the entire Quicken file to QIF (including categories and accounts)? I seem to recall that when I performed my own migration (many years back, now), I had only a little bit of trouble. I exported the entire QIF and then imported it, and Gnucash sucked it all in pretty accurately. Opening balances were a bit of a challenge, as were previous (to Quicken) stock and mutual fund accounts. But everything else worked for me.

Subject: Importing Reconciled accounts with transfers from Quicken
Hi,
I'm trying to switch from Quicken 2000 to GnuCash. It isn't proving very
easy, but I've overcome all the problems so far except for a couple of nasty
little difficulties on transfers between accounts and reconciliation.
Firstly, GnuCash seems to double-account transfers between imported Quicken
accounts. The donor account seems OK but the account receiving the
transaction gets it twice, once as the original Quicken transaction (but
shown as unreconciled) and once as an Imbalance (shown reconciled).
Manually deleting the Imbalances gets GnuCash and Quicken to agree but it's
a lot of work and leaves a trail of unreconciled transactions through the
account.
Secondly, imported accounts that were reconciled in Quicken show apparently
random non-zero opening balances when trying to reconcile them for the first
time in GnuCash, so they can't be reconciled properly. The only fix I've
found to this was to manually un-reconcile the whole account in GnuCash and
then re-reconcile every transaction, and that's not going to be a practical
proposition for the volume of data I need to transfer.
I don't know if I've made a stupid error in exporting the QIFs or perhaps
when importing them into GnuCash, but if there are any good solutions to
these two difficulties I'd certainly appreciate hearing them.
Many Thanks.
