question about opening account balance

Hi,
i downloaded transactions from my bank account. I do need to change the
opening balance on this account.
So i tried to enter a new transaction in Equity:Opening Balances account
and under Transfer I have the particular bank account listed. I also
enter a non-zero amount in the "Increase column".
When i open the bank account for which i just entered the opening
balance, i see the transaction listed, however, the balance amount is zero.

What am i missing? To me it looks like something is not synced between
the Equity:Opening Balances and the bank account, but i could be wrong
of course.
