Attaching a memo to a checking entry

If, in the register, you select View > Double Line then it will give
you and extra line for each transaction with a Notes field where you
can put whatever notes you like.  You can make this the default view
by selecting Edit > Preferences > Register Defaults > Double Line
Mode.
