Please don't top post, it makes it diffucult to follow the thread. Insert
your reply inline at appropriate points in previous message. Also by top
posting you are more likely to forget to answer some of the questions. In
this case which OS you are using.
I guess you are trying to compile from source but just running ./configure
is not enough to build it. Why not just install from the repository as
suggested by the message.

What do you mean it will not work? What happened when you tried (and don't
forget to tell us which OS and version you are using).
