Please make sure you reply to the list, not to me.  This list is
unusual in that you must use Reply to All or Reply to List when
replying.

What do you mean "I can seem to install 2.2.9"  If you meant the
opposite then, once again I ask, how are you trying to install it and
what happens when you try?

If you want to build it from source then the instructions are at [1],
though 10.04 is so old that whether they work any more is
indeterminate.

Alternatively you could install from the gnucash ppa
https://launchpad.net/~gnucash/+archive/ppa
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:gnucash/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install gnucash


You really would be best, though, to go to 12.04.  Once you get used
to it the UI is excellent, for me anyway.  If you select Unity 2d you
should not notice any noticeable slow down in your system.  Assuming
you have a reasonable amount of memory (preferably at least 1GB).
