What's the meaning of the U (update) in Reconciliation?

Ahha!  Thanks.  That makes sense.

Although I could see wanting to update because I may have typed the wrong
number in and the bank's number (or the credit card's number) is, of
course, the actual number.

I'm just going to verify each one.
