GNU cash slow to load

We have 3-1/2 years of data entered and the compressed data file is around 8meg and it has been safe this far, had the same feeling when we started, so definitely understand the concern. Totally flipped out when the data file went past 1 meg and then 2 meg in a couple weeks, but it was ok and slowed after that.. I wish it would load faster, but it seems good once it gets going, maybe a gnucash tuning page would be good?
