Reports crashing and wrong Profits figure

Hi

I've just joined the list and I apologise if these questions have been 
resolved. I can see from the archives that report crashes have been 
discussed but I can't see a solution.

I've just closed my books at 31 March and entered my first transaction 
for the following year. Before I closed my books, on an earlier version, 
I generated and saved all reports, but I noticed that the Profits figure 
at the right of the bar at the bottom of the screen was slightly higher 
than my P&L figure. I upgraded to the latest version but the figure did 
not change. I closed my books and the figure remained the same. I 
entered my first figure for the new year and that figure did not change. 
I then tried generating three reports, one at a time, because each made 
the program hang - no error reports, I just had to close it. the three 
reports I tried were P&L, TB and BS. I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit. I've been 
using GnuCash for several years and not previously encountered any problems.
