Gnucash data missing

Consider this as:

  <basename>.<timestamp1>.gnucash.<timestamp2>.gnucash (and .log)

This implies that on <timestamp2> you opened a BACKUP file from
<timestamp1> and started using it as your main data file.  That explains
why you lost data, because you opened a file that likely existed before
that data was added.

Unfortunately there is not a good way to merge all your branches of data
entry back into a single data file, short of hoping you didn't add any
accounts and replaying the log filoes.  If you DID add any accounts then
there's not a good way to merge them.

But at least you know what happened and why data is missing:  you opened a
backup file.

Remember that gnucash will always open the last-used file by default.  You
do not need to "click on" a data file..  Doing so is likely what caused
this issue for you.
