Can't maximize window

I just upgraded to Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.  For some reason, the GnuCash window
isn't allowed to maximize.  Double clicking does nothing, and the menu
option to maximize is grayed out.

I could live with it except I can't see the bottom most part of the gnucash
window.  I can resize horizontally but not vertically.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I googled for this and got a few hits but none
helpful.
