It may be related. I only know that some people reported that changing
the font and/or the theme via the "Select Theme" tool solved the ui
slowness. It looks you are referring to the same tool in the other
thread.

replied this is due to an additional integrity check that was included
in the 2.6 series. Personally I'd rather be sure my data is fine than
having a blazingly fast load time. But having said that I am not ruling

I've encountered something similar a long time ago as well with other
hardware. Perhaps changing the theme could fix this ?
