2.6.0. display settings/GUI

Assuming you are running on Windows you could try the "Select Theme" 
tool that gets installed together with  gnucash to change the theme. It 
seems to me the theme preferences got lost. You can find this tool in 
the Windows start menu under group "GnuCash".
