That might work in combination with going back to Active Perl 5.10. I may
wait and see if anyone else has an idea. I don't understand why mine is
still looking for Perl510.dll.

try this. first locate your perl directory. in one of the subfolders, there
is a file called usa.pm. replace it with the attachment which someone from
this user group made available in a related thread. should fix your problem

First, let me thank you all for your help. With the email traffic I've seen
since signing up, I have no clue how you have time for this.

The following detail is partly for my own benefit as well as other Windows
users.

I am currently running GnuCash 2.4.15 on a Windows Vista PC. I tried
GnuCash 2.6.1, but it seemed significantly slower on my old PC and I did not
like the additional real estate used by the tabs due to the "X" that would
close the tab. I use GnuCash for personal accounting including a fairly
detailed investment portfolio. As a retired engineer, I tend toward anal
retentive and my current data file is almost 8 MB.

My current version of Perl is 5.10.1 build 1006. I have not been able to
find the F::Q version, but even after running GnuCash/Install Online Price
Retrieval, I am still getting the error.

I am now going to uninstall Perl and reinstall the ActivePerl 5.16.3 build
1603.

Done! Starting GnuCash ... couldn't find Perl ... Get Quotes is grayed out
in the Price Editor. Rebooting. Starting GnuCash ... Application failed to
start because perl510.dll was not found. I'm guessing perl510.dll was from
v 5.10.1 as there is a perl516.dll in the Perl directory. Get Quotes is
grayed out again.

So ... uninstall and reinstall GnuCash 2.4.15. Done, starting GnuCash ...
still not finding perl510.dll. Get Quotes still grayed out. Install Online
Price Retrieval ... also failed looking for perl510.dll! Get Quotes no
longer grayed out, but doesn't work because perl510.dll not found.

Any ideas? I guess I can go back to Perl 5.10, but it doesn't have the
right F::Q.

Mike

So downloading a more recent version of ActivePerl will not get you 1.20
automatically yet ?
