Gnucash 2.6: problem opening file

I've an Italian user reporting the same exact problem. GnuCash 2.4.13 
opens files with accented characters in the name, while 2.4.14 and 2.6.0 
can't.

I will try to reproduce the problem in my XP installation and report 
back to see if it is limited to win7.
