After further testing I can confirm that files with non ascii characters 
can't be opened by GnuCash 2.6 while 2.4.13 can. This seems to be only a 
windows OS problem (tested under winXP and Ubuntu 13.10). I think a bug 
should be opened; if you are not able to, I will do.
