gnu cash crashing

In fact, the new install is crashing with a brand new accounts file with 
no data in it...

Update on this issue:

-Accounts file works fine on v2.6 on two other machines: one XP and one W7.

- Un-installed and re-installed GC on original machine.

- Opening a report with same accounts file still causes GC to crash.
