Is there any need to copy the "xea" files that come up? I copied all the
files from the "gnucash storage" folder but there are a score of files with
"xea" in the filename located in my program file folder as well..... ??

There is no need to export to any other format, you can just copy over the
file(s) you use, and they work. Where any file is depends upon how you've
organized your computer, for example mine are in ~/Documents/GnuCash The
file used has the extension ".gnucash". There might be a bunch of them, if
your preferences call for multiple days of backup/log files, etc. Just copy
all of them over to the new computer and you are ready to go. I just got a
new computer and getting Gnucash up to snuff was the easiest of anything I
installed.
