Hi Larry,
Edit -> Preferences -> Accounts Tab -> Use Formal Accounting labels controls
the display of of "debit & credit" vs "deposit & withdrawal" etc.
I personally find debit & credit confusing, as they depend on the account type
and so sometimes credit increases a balance, other times it decreases an
account's balance. I'm reasonably sure the concepts guide on the GC website
covers it all in some depth, but I'm lazy and not an accountant so I stick
with the everyday labels....YMMV
Note, you should always copy emails to the list for GnuCash User - it isn't
automagic, unlike some other mailing lists. You may have a "reply all" or
"reply to list" function in your email software that will help.... Others
here know far more than I about GC, and other readers may benefit from the
whole discussion. ( And you won't have to wait for me to get back after a
weekend to see your reply!...)
Cheers,
Maf.
