Hi guys!
So, right now I'm using gnucash with sparkleshare, a software that
syncs files to a server using git. Everytime any file in my shared
folder changes it pushes the changes to the remote repository. It's
working great for me to have access to my .gnucash file in different
computers but there's the problem that it keeps syncing the log files
that gnucash creates and this wastes a lot of space in my server.
I had a nice solution to this problem that was to create a symbolic
link to my .gnucash file outside of my sparkleshare folder and load
this link from gnucash instead of loading the original file. Then
gnucash creates the log files in the folder where the link is instead
of creating in the original file's folder.
The problem is that when I save in gnucash, instead of saving in the
linked location, it overwrites my symbolic link with a new .gnucash
file. Before using this method with gnucash I tested it with a plain
text file using gedit and gedit did the right thing when saving, so I
think maybe gedit knows it is dealing with a symbolic link while
gnucash don't? I really don't know.. Do somebody have a workaround for
this? Is this something I should send to the developer's list?
Thanks
