Question about payments

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me.  Before the most recent upgrade, if 
someone prepaid for an invoice, I could enter it into the system, and 
when I posted a new invoice, it would automatically be marked as paid.  
Now the prepayment is noted as pre-paid, but it will not automatically 
apply to the next open invoice and I can't figure out an easy way to 
apply the payments.  Is there a workaround for this or some process that 
I should follow?

Any suggestions are welcome.
